We were looking for the perfect holiday destination for our first holiday in the sun as a family. My cousin convinced me that Cambrils Park Family Resort was the only way to go! (She has been many times with her own family). The resort is located outside the beautiful town of Cambrils in Spain. After booking it on a whim, my family and I embarked on an incredible 8-night adventure at this resort. Our kids are aged 8,6 and 4. All I can say is that it surpassed all our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were immersed in a world of fun, relaxation, and exploration. I’m going to share our amazing experience at Cambrils Park Family Resort, along with essential details about the resort and the charming town of Cambrils.
Arrival and Transportation
We flew from Shannon to Reus Airport, which proved to be a convenient starting point for our journey. The airport experience at Shannon Airport was seamless, as always. Upon landing, it was a quick 20-minute taxi ride from Reus Airport to Cambrils Park Family Resort. Taxis are readily available outside the airport, and no prior booking is required. For our family of five, the taxi fare from the airport to the resort cost €40.
Cambrils Park Family Resort offers three accommodation options to suit your family’s needs. We chose to stay in one of the Villa Bonitas, which provided ample outdoor space for our children to play and unwind. The villa featured a cozy double room, a convenient twin room, and a sofa bed where one of our kids slept. Additionally, the villa boasted a well-equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, fridge, freezer, hob, and microwave, ensuring our stay was comfortable and convenient. However, if we were to return, we would consider the Mediterranean apartments, known for their modern design, daily cleaning service, and ensuite rooms. Just to note that the villas are air conditioned.
Within the resort, you’ll find a range of amenities that cater to your family’s needs. There’s a supermarket, bakery, ice-cream shop, pizza takeaway spot, and four different restaurants, offering a variety of dining options. The supermarket is reasonably priced and well stocked foe e.g. a 3 pack of apple juice was €0.35. For water enthusiasts, the resort features three pool areas with varying depths, exciting slides, and captivating theming that were a big hit with both kids and adults alike. You are assigned a wrist band upon arrival that you wear for the duration of your stay. This also acts as the key to your villa (including the kids wrist bands).
Activities and Entertainment
Cambrils Park Family Resort offers a plethora of activities and entertainment options to keep everyone engaged. Sports enthusiasts can enjoy the astro turf, basketball courts, and sports facilities. While thrill-seekers can bounce away on trampolines or engage in a friendly competition at the crazy golf course (additional charge of €4 per person). Fitness enthusiasts can make use of the gym for a small fee of €4 per visit. The resort ensures that there is something for everyone, guaranteeing endless fun and excitement throughout your stay. There is also a kids club which runs daily, free of charge, for kids over the age of 4. Younger kids can attend but must be accompanied by an adult.
Community and Atmosphere
During our stay, we noticed that the majority of guests at Cambrils Park Family Resort were Irish. This created a lovely atmosphere for our children, as they had the opportunity to meet and play with many kids who shared their interests. The sense of community added an extra layer of enjoyment to our family holiday.
Exploring Outside the Resort
Aside from the resort, take the opportunity to explore the charming town of Cambrils. This picturesque destination can be reached by a pleasant hour-long walk along the beach. If you prefer you can take a taxi costing approximately €13. Cambrils offers a delightful blend of history, culture, and culinary delights. Stroll through its charming streets, visit the local markets, or dine at one of the traditional Spanish restaurants, where you can savor mouthwatering local cuisine. Salou is also a 40 minute walk from the resort. The beach is a ten minute walk from the resort itself. On one of our days we visited Portaventura World which was an absolutely brilliant day out. We also did a catamaran trip from Cambrils Port which was just wonderful. We booked it through Creuers Costa Daurada and would highly recommend it for adults and kids.
There is a Mercadona Supermarket a short walk from the resort if you enjoy Spanish supermarkets as much as I do. Just to note that the Mercadona is closed on Sundays. Also be mindful that some retsaurants close for siesta in the mid afternoon. Some of the restaurants that are worth visiting in Cambrils include, Pizza E Basta, LaGallera and Twisted Lime.
Cambrils Park Family Resort promises an exceptional family holiday experience. From its convenient location and comfortable accommodations to its diverse amenities and a wide range of activities, the resort ensures an enjoyable stay for guests of all ages. The nearby town of Cambrils offers a wonderful opportunity to explore Spanish culture and indulge in culinary delights. Whether you’re seeking relaxation, adventure, or a combination of both, Cambrils Park Family Resort has it all. All in all the best way to describe the trip is that it was ‘easy’ – which is saying something given that we were travelling with 3 young kids!
