Introducing Baby Andy with Little Things Photography

The long wait is finally over! 3 weeks ago, we welcomed our newest tiny human into the fold. And so without further ado I am delighted to introduce baby Baby Andy O’Leary. Andy was was born at 10.42pm on 13/10/18 weighing 8lb6oz. In the last few weeks, we have been busy making him feel welcome, letting him settle in and getting to know him a little. His two big brothers are besotted and needless to say I am madly in love!

Capturing the Early Moments

A few days after Andy was born, Michaela from Little Thing Photography contacted me about taking some shots of our new addition and us as a family. It’s something that looking back now, I wish I had done with my other boys. Mindful that Andy is likely to be the last addition to our family, I am committed to savouring all the newborn loveliness. What better way to do that than capturing those all important early moments that seem to be over before you get a chance to blink. As someone who is permanently behind the camera, having an opportunity to be in shots with all of my boys was novel! Capturing some of Andy’s earliest moments, with me included in the pictures for once, was incredibly special.

Our Session

Michaela came to our home to take the shots (on account of it being a little chilly and Andy being brand new!). The whole session was incredibly relaxed. We chatted away as Michaela casually took some shots of us just sitting in the living room doing our own thing. There was no staging or posing, she just managed to capture natural moments between the boys and baby Andy between sleeping and feeding! The boys loved Michaela (they must have known she was a boymom!) and were excited to show her the playroom and their toys. We got some beautiful shots of the boys playing, and wrestling on the couch (very typical in our house!!). Michaela gave us a little direction when needed, with regards lighting and background. This was really useful and meant we got some incredible shots.

Staged photos of the kids with a white back drop was never going to be my thing. But Michaela’s take on lifestyle photography has beautifully captured my boys and I in all the chaos and madness that is our everyday. I know that as much as I love this collection of shots now, they will have a whole new dimension of sentimentality in years to come. No doubt they will be useful when I need to reminisce fondly about the chaos of these early years.
