When planning a family holiday to Lake Garda, theme parks like Gardaland often steal the spotlight — but just down the road is a lesser-known gem that deserves some attention: Movieland – The Hollywood Park. We visited as a family of five (kids aged 6, 8 and 10) and honestly had one of the most fun, easygoing park days we’ve had to date.
No queues. Loads to see. Lots of action packed behind the scenes attractions. And a whole day of laughs and thrills — without the crowds.
What is Movieland?
Movieland is part of the Canevaworld Resort, which also includes the Caneva Aquapark (a Caribbean-style waterpark next door). It’s a Hollywood-inspired theme park with shows, stunt rides, and family attractions that are quirky, fun and really entertaining.
Unlike the bigger parks, Movieland is less crowded, easy to get around, and a little more budget-friendly — perfect for families looking for a relaxed day out without compromising on fun.

Tips for Making the Most of Your Day at Movieland
-
Arrive early – While it doesn’t get as busy as Gardaland, getting there at opening gives you a relaxed start. Check out your map on arrival to see which rides open at what times.
-
No need to stress about queues – Even in early June, we walked onto every ride — no queuing at all!
-
Plan your ride order by height – It’s easy to walk across the park and hit multiple rides in quick succession.
-
Don’t skip the shows – The Police Academy Stunt Show and John Rambo Action Show were surprising highlights — genuinely funny and exciting!
-
Bring water bottles – There are fountains and shaded spots throughout the park.
-
Lockers are available if you want to travel light.
-
Wear comfortable shoes – You’ll be walking quite a bit, even though the park is compact.
Where to Eat in Movieland – Surprisingly Good!
There are lots of food options at Movieland — great variety, quick service, and again affordable compared to bigger parks in other European countries. We had lunch at Famous Daytona, a race-themed restaurant inspired by action-packed car movies, which was a cool experience. The entire place is decked out like a pit stop, and our meals were delivered by robot cars that zoomed across the floor to our table! To be fair it was really entertaining and a cool experience for the kids .
Elsewhere in the park, Main Street offers typical theme park classics like hot dogs, pizza slices, and cold drinks. Rambo’s BBQ Grill is great for grilled meats and has a view of the stunt arena, and Pangea Snack Bar near the dino zone is ideal for a quick snack or refreshing slushie. If you’re bringing your own food, there are lots of shaded picnic areas. And make sure to stop by one of the gelato stands for a scoop or two — a perfect cool-down treat on a hot Lake Garda day!
What About Caneva Aquapark?
Caneva Aquapark is right next door to Movieland and themed like a tropical paradise, complete with waterslides, lazy rivers, and pirate zones. We didn’t do it on this occasion, but it looked brilliant. Keep in mind that it requires a separate ticket, or you can purchase a combo pass if you want to do both parks in one or two days.
How to Get to Movieland
-
From Lazise or Peschiera del Garda: You can take local buses like the 483 or 164, which stop near Movieland.
-
Free Shuttle: In peak season, there’s a free shuttle bus from Peschiera del Garda train station to Canevaworld Resort (including Movieland).
-
By car: There’s ample on-site parking (paid), and the drive is straightforward.
🚫 Taxis aren’t a great option around Lake Garda — they’re expensive and not always easy to find.
Is Movieland Worth It?
Absolutely. For families with kids who love movies, action, and unusual rides, Movieland is a total win. It’s less overwhelming than the bigger parks, and with zero queue times and loads of entertainment, you really get to soak up every moment. As a family we loved all the behind the scenes type attractions in particular. Don’t miss Magna 2.1 and Kit Superjet – they were our favorites rides of the day.
It’s the perfect mix of movie magic and exciting rides — and one of Lake Garda’s lesser known spots for families that you should put on your list!
*Movieland kindly invited us to visit the park on a PR visit. All views and opinions are my own. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely visit again on our next trip to Lake Garda.
