It’s the time of year where the greatest accessory you can don is a wad of tissue up your sleeve to wipe the kids nose’s, your own nose and any other noses you may come upon. Sometimes it feels just when you’ve gotten over one cold, someone else in the house picks up another and the vicious cycle continues. Sound familiar? Needless to say I don’t really feel I have time to be sick or struck down with a nasty cold. A couple of years ago, I discovered the power of The Ginger Shot, and in our house when the tingle of a cold starts, it’s our first port of call. I’m a big believer in using natural remedies first and the seeking out alternatives if they don’t work. The Ginger Shot is so simple to make with the help of a good juicer, and it is ridiculously effective. So before running out in search of nasal sprays, decongestants and cold medicines, give this a shot!
2 inches of ginger root
Using an electronic juicer (I use this Philips Centrifugal one), juice the apple followed by the ginger into a glass. That’s it.
Word of warning, a ginger shot is very intense and has a very strong flavour. It’s not the type of juice that you will want to sip on (hence the title), in fact you may want to have a glass of water at the ready.
In case the great effects of the ginger shot aren’t quite enough, have a look at the benefits of this magic potion.
